The Vicar writes...

Dear Friends,

Well, the sun shone, the church looked superb and the gathered people sang God's praises at our service of 'Thanksgiving and Rededication' on Easter day at 6:00 pm. It has been a long road for us at St.Michael's to finally install a kitchen and toilet and refurbish the entire church building so there was a great deal of rejoicing at the service. The regular congregation and friends from the local community joined us along with the Bishop of Pontefract, previous Vicars, representatives of the contractors, the architect, the son of the present patron and last but certainly not least Cyril and Dianne Gay who kindly gave the donation. Services like these do not come around very often so it was extremely special for us to gather as a community to give thanks to God for the work and rededicate ourselves to his service.

In the church calendar we are now entering into the long summer months of Trinity which is a time when we rediscover and learn what it means to be a follower of the Risen Christ in today's world. We have now left Easter and our Sunday Bible readings take us into the birth of the church at Pentecost and the growth of the early church across the known world. At Pentecost the early disciples were gathered together in Jerusalem and were filled with the Holy Spirit which enabled them to witness and share the good news. At the rededication service the Bishop prayed for God's blessing upon us and for the same Holy Spirit to continue his work of enabling disciples to witness and share the good news. This is an amazing privilege and joy to be part of God's mission to His world equipped by the Holy Spirit, sharing in fellowship in church and inviting others to join us on our journey.

Do consider joining us and sharing with us over the summer months as we the 'living stones' of the church give thanks for refurbishment and build on the solid foundation of the Risen Christ.

With every blessing

Glenn
