Our peal of bells is, historically, interesting.
Ringing times: 9:30am each Sunday and 5:30pm first Sunday. Practice 7:15-8:45pm Monday.
The parish boasts a fine team of bell ringers who have their
own web site. On their site you can read about the history of St Michael's bells and their most recent restoration.
There are also articles on bell ringing and links to the Yorkshire Association of Change Ringers.
Our hymns are taken, for the most part, from Songs of Fellowship, and Ancient and Modern Revised (AMR). We have a good mixture of traditional hymns and new songs, and we pride ourselves in expanding our repertoire. We also sing a setting of many parts of the Eucharistic Liturgy. At present we sing mainly in unison and sometimes in two parts.
Our singers are mainly ladies and we have a growing number of young people. The choir practive is 7:00-8:00pm on Thursday evenings. Ages are from 10 years upwards.
The choir is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM).
