Summer Fayre - Well the weather stayed fine and Ian White drew the crowds and we all had a wonderful if not chilly afternoon
of fellowship and fun. Thanks to all who helped in any way to make the 2010 summer fayre such a success. On the day £2,500 was raised with
an additional £504 raised before the day from John's woodworking and Val's jam making
Christian Aid Week Thanks to all who have delivred and collected CA envelopes during the week and to
Hazel and Malcolm for all their hard work in organising the week and for the work to come.
The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Judith Elliot, visited
St. Michael's church on Sunday 7th March 2010. Judith began with a visit to our Sunday School where she met the children, joined in
their act of worship and saw the Lenten Quilt the children are designing.
Judith then joined the congregation at St. Michael's for moring
prayer. During the service Mrs Margaret Watson, a long term member of the congregation, presented the Lord Mayor with a flower basket. Councillor
Elliot then joined the congregation for refreshments after the service.
This was the Lord Mayor's second visit to the church in her term of office. Her first was in July 2009 when she attended East Ardsley Flower
festival which was held in St. Michael's church.
At the back of church there are plans for the re-ordering which will be going to the Diocesan cnancellor shortly for
his agreement (hopefully). You will also notice that we are using the high altar to celebrate - this is because the temporary archdeacon's
licence to us a nave altar has ceased. The archdeacon has asked us to investigate the purchase of a nave altar wich is more 'fitting' fro the church
A new church path was laid in January 2009. This photograph shows the path just a few days before final completion. The path has a level access to the main church door. It is now posible
to enter the church without having to climb any steps. This gives good access to wheelchair users, prams and pushchairs. Further details can be found on our Newsletter page.

A St. Michael's Men's group was launched on Wednesday 17th March 2010 at the
Conservative Club in East Ardsley.
The group was launched by Peter Fox who gave a very interesting talk about his life as a player and coach in Rugby League for over 50 years.
Over twenty attended and Peter's talk stirred up memories for many of them of rugby league players and games down the years.
Recent Events
As we conclude Eastertide 2010, we can view how we celebrated the last week of Lent in 2009. The season of Eastertide extends for 50 days until the feast of Pentecost.
Immediately before Easter Day are the 3 special days of Maundy Thurday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. We have recorded some highlights
from our 2009 celebrations and these can be viewed on our Easter 2009 page.
Church Path - this work is finished and a very good Job has been done. To help us pay the bill, there is an opportunity to sponsor a foot of the path for £2. The
total length is 210 feet, so if we manage to sponsor the path it will raise £420 towards the bill. Please see Malcolm or Mavis to add your name onto the plan.
